Kings Canyon
Kings Canyon is one of the four major tourist icons in the Northern Territory. It lies midway between Ayers Rock and the town of Alice Springs. The canyon is a spectacular chasm of red eroded sandstone . When the sunlight penetrates the gorge it creates fantastic shades and colours which are a photographers paradise.
Accommodation for visitors is available at the Kings Canyon resort which is located only a few kilometres from the canyon itself. The resort provides accommodation in a number of different standards as well as having caravan park sites and a camping area. Tours of Kings Canyon are run on a regular schedule from the resort and cultural information center. Most tours include information provided by members of the local Aboriginal people and they will explain the cultural significance of kings Canyon to their people.
Kings Canyon lies in an isolated and remote region and is over two hundred kilometers from the nearest town. You must book ahead if you want to stay at Kings Canyon resort.
